Who's Behind the Code

A lot of software for contractors and inspectors gets built by people who have never carried staging, cut a stair stringer, or tried to type up a report in a damp crawlspace with zero cell reception.

I grew up in the trades learning framing and remodeling alongside my father, and spent over 20 years doing frame-to-finish carpentry and historic restoration work in Massachusetts and Midcoast Maine. After a serious shoulder and arm injury forced me off the physical tools, I pivoted into building diagnostics—completing over 1,200 hours of training across home inspection, building science, indoor air quality, and radon measurement.

I started Birchwood Software Ecosystem LLC to build the exact tools I needed in my own field inspection work at Birchwood Diagnostics LLC: clean, fast web apps that work offline without losing data, and visual training labs that make building science and framing math click for the next generation of tradespeople.
